Virginia G. Roppel, 88, of East Peoria, formerly of Lincoln, died 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria. Funeral services will be Monday, November 26 at 1:30 p.m. with visitation starting at 11:30 a.m. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 South Philo Rd., Urbana. Rev. Danny Roberts will officiate. Interment will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Mrs. Roppel was born in Paxton on December 22, 1918, the daughter of Harvey and Mabel Grace Bess. She married Waldo L. Roppel on April 6, 1985 in Urbana. He preceded her in death December 19, 1993. She is survived by a daughter Mildred Hindershott of Mitchell, Indiana, sons, Robert L. Hinkley of Urbana, John E. Hinkley of East Peoria, step sons, Harold Roppel of Cincinnati, Ohio, Earl D. Roppel of Milmine, twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. Mrs. Roppel was a telephone operator at Illinois Bell Telephone for 25 years. She was a graduate of Paxton High School and was a member of Lincoln Christian Church, Lincoln.
