URBANA, IL- Virginia Lovingfoss, 102, of Urbana, IL, passed away at 8:10 P.M., Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Meadowbrook Health Center in Urbana.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL. Following burial at Locust Grove Cemetery in Philo, IL, there will be a Celebration of Life reception at the Clark Lindsey Village Activities Room. Visitation will be from 5 P.M.-7:00 P.M., Tuesday evening, July 25th, at the funeral home.
Virginia was born on August 20, 1914 in Philo, IL, a daughter of Lee Roy and Frances(Plotner) Brand. She married Richard Lovingfoss on July 11, 1933 in Champaign. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1980. Virginia is survived by four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, two sons Mark and John, and a brother.
Virginia graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Philo and Champaign Commercial College. She worked as an insurance broker for 20 years and an executive secretary for 17 years while she lived in California. When Virginia returned to Illinois after her husband passed away, she was very active in the community. Virginia volunteered at the Mills Breast Cancer Institute(for 27 years), the Urbana Free Library, and she was an election judge for over 25 years. She rode a hot-air balloon on her 99th birthday and rode on a float for the University of Illinois homecoming parade that same year.
Virginia's secrets to longevity included a healthy attitude("It makes me feel good to get out and see people.") if not an entirely healthy diet("I like 7-UP, steaks and chocolate, too.")
