Vera Mae Stirewalt, age 79, died at her home in Urbana surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, with the Rev. Bob Rasmus officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign. Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Stirewalt was born in Urbana November 14, 1928, the daughter of William and Nora (Ennis) Long. She married Laurel D. "Bud" Stirewalt December 11, 1947 in Urbana. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1970. She is survived by her sons Gary Stirewalt of Urbana, Larry Stirewalt of Wilkes Barre, PA, a sister Kay King of Urbana, grandchildren, Sunny Stirewalt, Spencer Stirewalt, Chris Stirewalt and one great-grandchild, Evan Christopher Stirewalt. She is preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Stirewalt graduated from Urbana High School and was employed by Champaign County Highway Dept. as an administrative assistant for 30 years, starting in 1970 and retiring in 2000. In lieu of flowers, memorials made be made to the donor's choice.
