Vera Coffman Johnson, 93, of Urbana, died Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Fairview Haven Nursing Home in Fairbury, IL.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S.Philo Rd., Urbana. Ken Raymond will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Champaign following the services.

Mrs. Johnson was born June 8, 1916 at Weldon, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (McDaniel) Coffman. She married Paul Ruby; he preceded her in death in 1963. She married John Lars Johnson and he preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by nieces; Linda C. Winterland of Fairbury and Sherilyn C. Clark of Mechanicsburg, PA, nephews; C. Richard Coffman of Muscatine, IA and David C. Coffman of Mansfield, eight great nieces and nephews and ten great-great nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two brothers; Leland F. Coffman and Charles L. Coffman.

Mrs. Johnson attended Illinois State University, Normal, IL. She was a Textbook Editor for Mosby Publishing Company in St. Louis, MO. She later was Administrative Assistant at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis. After moving to Champaign/Urbana, she was a member of Stratford Park Bible Chapel where she was a choir member and sang solos at church. She also participated in Bible study classes at church and Bible Study Fellowship. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed gardening, reading, musical concerts, travel, homemaking (cooking & baking) and entertaining family and friends.
