Vera Mae Blacker, 81 of Savoy died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, August 10, 2008 at the Carle Arbours, Savoy.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. There will be no public visitation. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Blacker was born on September 10, 1926 in Lodge, the daughter of Jesse and Meta Estelle Miller Cafin. She married Edgar "Beefie" Blacker on December 24, 1954 in Urbana; he died on September 23, 1989.

Survivors include two daughters; Jennie L. Jelly of Philo and Teresa Blakley of Urbana, two sons; Stan Blacker of Urbana and Jeffrey Blacker of Champaign, three sisters; Wanda F. Duncan, Betty L. Zook and Connie I. Cafin all of Urbana and one brother; Melvin E. Cafin of Urbana, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Mrs. Blacker was a member of the VFW Post 5520 Auxiliary in Champaign.
