GIFFORD, IL- Veda Mae Lewis, 80, of Gifford, died at 2:58 A.M., December 24, 2008 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Private graveside services will be held at Onarga Cemetery, Onarga, Illinois.

Mrs. Lewis was born November 4, 1928 at Onarga, a daughter of George and Tona (Brill) Ebert. She married Ernest G. Lewis on December 19, 1947 at Onarga. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2003. Survivors include two daughters, Margie Lewis of Gifford and Mary Lewis of Indianapolis, IN. One grandson, Corey Lewis, also survives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Mrs. Lewis attended Onarga schools and was a clerical assistant for the Rantoul school system. She also worked as a demonstration assistant for Sam's Club. She was a member of the Gifford United Methodist Church.
