Ursula C. Schmidt, 92, of Savoy, formerly of Pesotum passed away at 7:22 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

A private service will be held at a later date, cremation rites will be accorded and burial will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Pesotum.

Ursula Frances Calvert was born on March 22, 1924 in Villa Grove, the eldest child of Hazel Iona Hall and William Clement Calvert. They preceded her in death. Her brother, William C. Calvert of Villa Grove also preceded her in death in 2006.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Gobert Krug (Edward) of Urbana, grandson Michael Brian Wasson (Apryl) and great granddaughters; Mychelle, Myka and Myleah, all of Urbana. Her sister in law, Ursula Spors Calvert of Villa Grove, one niece, two nephews, one great niece and her long time companion C.D. "Steve" Stevens also survive her.

She was a 1942 graduate of Villa Grove High School and attended Illinois Commercial College. She worked for the USI Industrial plant in Tuscola where she met Fredrick (Freddie) L. Schmidt. They married in 1960 and made their home in Pesotum. Freddie died in 1975.

Ursula worked for the Hillard Insurance Agency in Pesotum as an insurance aid, eventually earning an insurance license, from the early 1960's until it's closure in the late 1990's. She served as a long time treasurer for the Pesotum Volunteer Fire Dept. and as Pesotum Township Clerk for many terms. Ursula was a member of Homemaker's Extension, and from 1960-1966 was co-leader with Dottie Schweighart of Pesotum Girls 4-H Club.

She enjoyed sewing and fabric crafts, ballroom dancing, automobiles, movies and plays and reading.
