Thelma Vermillion was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Adam and Florrie Ackerman. She attended school in Charleston. She worked for a drug company and a restaurant cashier while in Charleston.
She married Donald Vermillion in 1948 and moved to Illinois. She has three children; Arnold of Tampa, Florida, Roger of Champaign and Nancy Jo Leary of Woodstock.
She worked for Eisner (Jewel) and IGA food store and Kraft foods.
She was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother, sister, brother, and son Roger.
She has seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren;
She was a member of Curtis Road Church of God in Champaign.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign, the Rev. Chris Smithey will officiate. There will be no public visitation. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Curtis Road Church of God.
