Thelma M. Griffin 78, of Champaign died at 9:22 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2009 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana. The Rev. Terry Harter will officiate. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Mahomet. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Griffin was born on July 19, 1930 in Dreyfus, Kentucky, the daughter of Milton B. and Emma Moore McGuire. She married John Rainey Griffin Sr. on February 4, 1951 in Alma; he died on August 28, 1998.

Survivors include one son; John (Lauma) Rainey Griffin Jr of Naperville, two daughters; Nancy (John) Sullivan of Mahomet and Judy (Jeff) Hankla of Hoonah, Alaska, one sister; Geneva Bryant of Colorado, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and nine sisters.

Mrs. Griffin was a sales consultant for Twin City Bridal Shop for 25 years and also Confidentially Yours.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Champaign, loved to travel and enjoyed sewing, bowling and her Cardiac Rehab Exercise Club.
