Sue Ann Powell, 78, of Thomasboro passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Lincoln Village Healthcare Center in Lincoln. Sue was born March 13, 1946, in Sycamore, Illinois, the daughter of Kermit and Helen (Erb) von Ohlen. She married John Powell on June 22, 1968, in Willow Springs, Missouri.
Sue is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Joanna (Matt) Wright; son, Joshua (Lisa) Powell; grandchildren Delaney, Arwen, and Gideon Wright and Olivia, Addison, and Charlotte Powell; sisters Sharon Taylor, Ellen (Bill) Guerrant, and Patricia Cramer; as well as mother-in-law Jenny Powell; sisters- and brothers-in-law Toni Pottorff, Linda (Denny) Unzicker, Jansen (Rhonda) Powell, Vincent (Jayne) Powell; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Sue attended Sycamore High School and Willow Springs High School, as well as the University of Missouri, where she and John met. She was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother who was always taking care of her family. She attended Westside Church in Champaign for more than fifty years, and was a servant to all those around her, showing the love of Jesus to family, friends, and strangers in practical, tangible ways. She enjoyed reading, music, movies, and watching sports, especially Cubs baseball, Illini basketball, and anything that included her grandchildren.

Burial will be in Arcola Township Cemetery, Arcola. Visitation will be Sunday, September 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
