Sharen Slade, 74, of Urbana passed away at 3:32 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018 at her residence.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory. Cremation rites will be accorded and a private burial will take place at Grandview Memorial Gardens on a later date.

Sherry was born on August 12, 1943 in Urbana to parents Harold and Ruby (Massey) Slade. They preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her grandma; Iva Slade with whom she was very close.

She is survived by her sister Crystal Graham of Austin, TX, her nephew Brandon Graham, her great nieces; Kaitlyn and Lauren and her great nephew Morgan Graham. Her cousin Brenda (Richard) Gault of Urbana also survives her.

Sherry was a graduate of the College of Business, located on the U of I campus and worked as an Executive Secretary at the U of I for over thirty-five years.

She was an active lifelong member and supporter of the Champaign County Humane Society, the Virginia Theater and WILL where she also volunteered. Sherry was known as the "Goose Lady" by many people in the Crystal Lake neighborhood where she nursed and fed an injured goose that she had found at the park. Sherry had a love for animals. She also enjoyed travelling and creating beautiful flower gardens.

Sherry had such a caring heart and is going to be missed by many. Memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia Theater, the Humane Society or to WILL.
