Sarah Elizabeth Gray, 96 of Tolono died at 7:23 a.m. Monday, January 25, 2016 at Aspen Creek of Tolono.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2016 at University Place Christian Church, Champaign; Rev. Kris Light will officiate. Burial will be in Old Union Christian Church Cemetery, Fayette County, Kentucky. Renner-Wikoff Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gray was born on September 15, 1919 in Fayette County, Kentucky, the daughter of Robert and Ellen Lincks Botkin. She married Harrywood Gray Sr. on June 20, 1937 in Fayette County, Kentucky; he died on December 1, 1968.

Survivors include three children; Melony Barrett of Urbana, Ellen (Harlan) Schertz of Nixa, Missouri, Harrywood (Mary Frances) Gray Jr. of Bainbridge, Georgia, five grandchildren; Purdy (Starlet) Barrett of Jefferson, Georgia, Melony (Chris Korose) Barrett of Urbana, Lisa (Rob) Tait of Midlothian, Virginia, Carolyn (Jim) Griffin of Urbana, Rodney (Cara) Schertz of Springfield, Missouri, twelve great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Gray retired from the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a claims adjustor.

She was a member of University Place Christian Church, Champaign.

Mrs. Gray volunteered at her church, Stevick Center, Champaign and WILL Radio/TV.

She loved crocheting, knitting, sewing and golf.
