Ruth Lillian Hampton, 92, of Decatur died at 9:20 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2009 at Fair Havens Christian Home, Decatur. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church; 1255 Lake Ridge Ave, Decatur, the Rev. Gary Bauerle will officiate. Burial will be at Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana is in charge of arrangements. Ruth was born on January 7, 1917 in Findlay, IL the daughter of Harry and Tressie Webb Coventry. She married Donald Vernon Hampton on March 8, 1938 in Paducah, Kentucky, he survives. Also surviving are two sons; Gary (Janet) Hampton and Bill (Judy) Hampton both of Lovington, two daughters; Carolyn (Sherman) Baine and Nancy (Steve) Milnor both of Decatur, three brothers; Wayne Coventry of Shelbyville, Kenneth Coventry and Jack Coventry both of Decatur, two sisters; Gladys Coventry of Decatur and Pauline Lumsden of Sullivan and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and one grandson. Ruth retired from Decatur Window Cleaners. She was a member of Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church, Decatur.
