URBANA, IL- Russell D. Shepherd, 82, of Urbana, IL, passed away at 12:21 AM, September 12, 2012 at his residence.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 P.M., on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL. Burial will be private.

Russell was born August 1, 1930 in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Russell and Clarice (Ashby) Shepherd. He married Ruby Irene Brown on December 16, 1950 in Urbana. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2005. Survivors include a daughter, Lynda Boling of Clarksville, TN; three sons: Steve Shepherd of Taylorville, IL, Phill Shepherd of Urbana, IL, and Larry Shepherd of Fenton, MO. 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Billy.

Russell was a truck driver for Carter Mayflower for over 30 years. He enjoyed playing pool, camping and his family. Russell was a true family man. His primary enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and friends (including his dogs). He was a kind and giving soul, who would go out of his way to help those in need.

Memorials may be made to Carle Hospice or the Champaign County Humane Society.
