Roy F. Mumm, 91, of Urbana passed away at 6:46 a.m., on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

There will be no services at this time, cremation rites will be recorded.

Roy was born in Champaign on March 26, 1923 to parents Earl E. and Faye (Miller) Mumm. They preceded him in death. On September 15, 1946 he married Martha Hill at Mayview Methodist Church. She survives. Also surviving are their two sons, Steven Mumm of Urbana and Timothy (Dena) Mumm of Champaign, one grand daughter, Leslie Mumm, two great grandchildren, Ashley Brunner, Isabelle Wiese, ten extended grand sons and five extended grand daughters.

Roy graduated from Urbana High School in 1941. In January 1943 he joined the U.S. Army, where he served until December of 1945. After leaving the Army, Roy worked as a neon tube bender for Superior Neon Sign Company for forty years.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the American Legion.

Roy played fast pitched softball in his younger years where he played in championship games, he also enjoyed horseshoes, bowling and doing yard work. He liked watching westerns, the St. Louis Cardinals and was an avid Fighting Illini fan.
