Rosanne Janice
Koehler
Feb 23, 1924 — Dec 27, 2017
Rosanne Janice Koehler, 93, of Champaign passed on to God's heavenly kingdom on December 27, 2017.
Rosanne was born in Champaign, Illinois, in 1924, the daughter of Mrs. Marjorie Keck Koehler, and Jesse Newton Koehler. She and her family moved to Miami, Florida, in 1935. She was educated in Miami and worked as an Insurance Secretary/Bookkeeper for many years.
She returned to reside in Champaign, Illinois, in 1962, and was employed as an Insurance Agent and Customer Service Representative with Insurance Risk Managers (now Wells Fargo Insurance), until her retirement in 1989. After her retirement, she worked part time for ten years with the University of Illinois Athletic Ticket Office.
Cherished niece of Charles and Edith Keck, she was always very close with cousins Margie Keck McCabe, Charlotte Keck Johnson, and Frank D. Keck and their families. Her 4th of July picnics and Christmas mornings were special for all the Keck grandchildren and included Johnson, Davis, and Wikoff families of Champaign-Urbana, as well.
A tremendously kind and caring person, she was devoted to the First Presbyterian Church in Champaign and was beloved by her many wonderful friends there. She was a Deacon, taught Sunday School, was active in the Presbyterian Women's Association, and involved for several years with the Congregational Care Deacons and the Knifty Knitters. She was honored by the esteemed Valiant Woman award by Church Women United.
Rosanne is survived by numerous cousins across the country who will dearly miss her gentle soul. She was exceptionally lucky and grateful to have Sarah Lee of Champaign as her friend and support, especially in her last years.
All who knew her will miss her cheerful smile and delicate laugh, her wonderful letters, and her pies.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Champaign, or to Page's ALS foundation, at: http://webchicago.alsa.org/site/PageNavigator/CHI_6_Pages_ALS_Challenge.html.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on January 9, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, Champaign, 302 W. Church St., Champaign. Reception to follow. Private burial at Roselawn Cemetery.
