Ronald L. Wagner 80, of Philo died Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 6:30pm at the Champaign County Nursing Home.
A visitation will take place from 5:30 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 29, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Road, Urbana. A graveside service will be conducted for the family on Wednesday at 10:30 am at Locust Grove Cemetery in Philo.
Mr. Wagner was born February 12, 1935 in Highland Park, Illinois, son of Lucille and Walter A. Wagner. He married Martha L. Carter on August 14, 1960 in Eldorado, Illinois. Mrs. Wagner survives.
Survivors also include his two daughters and their families: Ruth and Tom Bradshaw of Shawnee, Kansas and their children, Katherine and Peter, and Alice Wagner and Vince Giannini of Redmond, Oregon.
Mr. Wagner is also survived by a brother and sister, Wayne Wagner and his wife Joan of Greeley Colorado and Caryl Carlton and her husband Bemis, of Lakewood, Colorado, a sister-in-law, Carlene Wagner of Rawlings, Virginia and by multiple nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, Barbara Nikolai, Phyllis Haas, and Walter R. Wagner.
Mr. Wagner earned a BS from Indiana University and a doctorate degree in biochemistry from University of Connecticut. He worked as a pharmacist at Carle Hospital for more than 25 years.
Mr. Wagner was always willing to lend a hand. He will be remembered by his friends and family as man who cared for people, particularly those in need.
