Military rites will be performed by the Urbana American Legion Post 71 at 7:00 p.m., following the reception. Ron will be cremated at Renner-Wikoff Chapel's on-site crematory.

Ron was born July 12, 1942 in Arthur, Illinois to parents Harold and Dorothy (Smith) Santrock. He married Alta Sharon "Twiggy" Coon November 13, 1979 at the courthouse in Rantoul. They would have celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary this year. Survivors include Ron's wife, four children, Brian Santrock, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kevin Santrock, of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Brian Wells (Lisa A.), of Tolono, Illinois, and Ronald Wells (Lisa G.), of Urbana, Illinois. Also surviving are one brother, Harold Santrock, of Urbana, Illinois, and seven grandchildren: Ryan, Aryn, and John Santrock, and Melissa, Zack, Maranda, and Kylie Wells. Ron was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Santrock enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17, before he had graduated from Urbana High School. After serving his country during the Korean Conflict, he returned to the U.S. to become a route salesman for Frito Lay, Inc. He worked there for many years before retiring early at the age of 55.

Ron was very social person, and enjoyed hosting gatherings in his garage for friends and family to share a drink. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He especially liked hunting deer, rabbits, and birds.

Ron loved his family dearly, but he had a special place in his heart for his beloved grandchildren. He will be sorely missed.
