Ronald D. McDade Sr., 72 of Thomasboro died at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign, where military services will be conducted. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Masonic services conducted by Sidney Lodge #347 A.F. & A.M. at 7:45 p.m.

Mr. McDade was born on December 10, 1936 in Champaign, the son of Sherman W. and Helen Marie Witt McDade. He married Dorothy Melchi on July 5, 1956 in Urbana, she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter; Nora McKinley of Urbana, one son; Ronald McDade Jr. of Fairmount, two brothers; Wesley McDade of Alabama and Richard McDade of Arcola, two sisters; Joanne Panepinto of Urbana and Jeannie Kay Campbell of Alabama, six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter.

Mr. McDade was a firefighter, mail carrier and postmaster for Weldon Post Office where he retired.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. McDade was a member of Bible Baptist Church, Champaign. He also was a member of the Elks Lodge, Sidney Lodge #347 A.F. & A.M., Danville Consistory, Illinois Car Club, Crosley Car Club, American Legion Post 71, Urbana. He was also an ABC Bowler.

Mr. McDade enjoyed his family, bowling and antique cars.
