Ronald Grade Frields 74 of Sidney died at 3:34 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Windsor Road Christian Church, Champaign. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Frields was born on October 25, 1937 in Shawneetown, the son of Grade and Mae Heath Frields. He married Betty Crayne on July 14, 1962 in Elizabethtown; she died on December 16, 1992.

Survivors include three sons; Jamie Frields of Mahomet, Darren Frields of Sidney, Marvin Frields of Tolono, one brother Lloyd Frields of Golconda, one sister Wanda Frields of Shawneetown, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son; Greg Frields and one sister; Betty Parmenter.

Mr. Frields graduated from Shawneetown High School and Parkland College.

He retired from Kraft as a machinist.

Mr. Frields was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Champaign.

Mr. Frields was a bible scholar, he loved to read the bible, it was his passion. In his pastime, he loved to play pool, shoot guns and make people laugh. He will be missed by everyone.
