RANTOUL, IL- Ronald Edward Franklin, 66, of Rantoul, Illinois, passed away on July 6, 2026.

Ron was born on October 30, 1959, in Fort Dix, New Jersey, to Roy and Geraldine Franklin, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cathy Sue Franklin (Lookingbill), and their son, Jeremy Franklin.

Ron was a graduate of Champaign Central High School, Class of 1976, where he was a member of the wrestling team. He spent many years working as a laborer with Local 703.

A devoted father and husband, Ron's greatest focus was his family. He will be remembered for the love, dedication, and care he showed to those closest to him. A Christian man, Ron found comfort in his faith and looked forward to being reunited in heaven with Cathy, Jeremy, and his parents.

Ron leaves behind his four sons, Ronald, Douglas, Christopher, and William; seven grandchildren; one brother, Don (Angi); two sisters, Marilyn (Mike Cain) and Cheryl (Jose Cornejo); as well as many nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Faith Church on Willow Road in Urbana, wih visitation from 10-11:00 AM, and the  funeral at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow the services at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana.

Ron will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
