Obituary

Roger Dean Greear, 79, of Urbana passed away at 7:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2013 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory. A funeral service will be held following the visitation Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Edgewood Cemetery in Edgewood, Illinois. Pastor Barry West will officiate both the funeral and the graveside service. Military rites will be accorded by the Edgewood American Legion.

Mr. Greear was born December 15, 1933 in Edgewood, Illinois to parents William R. and Iva (Sapp) Greear. He married Rose Juanita Doublin November 11, 1961 in Urbana. She preceded him in death January 1, 2011.

Survivors include daughter; Patricia Zara (Vincent), of Urbana, sons; William Thomas (Sylvia), of Urbana, Billy Joe Taylor, of Springfield, brothers; Donald Greear (Barbara), of Alabama, Patrick Greear, of Edgewood, Illinois, Texas Greear (Sharon), of Urbana, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Lee S. Greear, Avon "Joe" Greear, Dale Greear, Larry Greear, and sisters; Yvonne White, Goldie Webster, and Avis Greear.

Roger proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired as a painter and drywall finisher after working for Creative Builders, C.A. Petry and Sons, and Carter Construction Services. He was a member of Sidney Christian Church, I.U.P.A.T. Industry Painters Local 363 Union, Champaign, and the Urbana American Legion.

Roger was a kind man who loved his family and friends dearly. He enjoyed frequenting Menard's and working on building projects, but most of all, he loved worshipping at his church and loved the Lord with all his heart.

Memorial contributions may be made in Roger's honor to the Sidney Christian Church Youth Fund.
