URBANA, IL- Harold "Roger" Armstrong, 76, of Urbana, passed away at 12:15 A.M., Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, January 14, 2011, at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL. Burial will be held at the Foosland Cemetery, Foosland, IL. Visitation will be held one hour prior to funeral services at the funeral home.

Mr. Armstrong was born January 28, 1934 in Foosland, IL, a son of Henry and Beulah Thomas Armstrong. He married Sharon Tyler on February 14, 2005 in Urbana. She survives. Also surviving are four sons, Ken Armstrong of Urbana, Kerry Armstrong of San Antonio, Texas, Mike Armstrong (Kelly) of Pawnee, IL, Randall Wright (Deana) of Lexington, IL, and a daughter, Kristen Stemple (Benji) of Valparaiso, IN. Seven grandchildren: Austin, Jake, Violet, Owen, Vivian, Brady, Hailey, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. One sister, Ruth Mahannah of Urbana, also survives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Armstrong graduated from Gibson City High School and served as a Paratrooper in the United States Army. He was a policeman for the University of Illinois for 30 years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Urbana, and the Fraternal Order of Police. He enjoyed sports and was recently inducted into the Gibson City Football Hall of Fame.
