Rocca (Roxie) A.
Robinson
Jun 12, 1928 — Feb 20, 2018
Rocca A. (Roxie) Robinson, 89, of Champaign passed away at 1:57 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Bickford of Champaign. There will be no local services. Renner-Wikoff Chapel will be in charge of arrangements.
Rocca Antonia DiPaolo was born June 12, 1928 in Cansano, Italy. Accompanied by an older sister, Catherine, and her mother, Perpetua, she arrived at Ellis Island August 19th, 1938. From there, they travelled to their new home in Frederick, Colorado where they were met by the rest of their family. She attended Frederick public school and graduated from high school in 1946.
She was working in Denver and attending business school when she married her husband, Philip M. Robinson. While in Denver they had two sons, Philip J. and Steven K. In 1954 they moved to Lafayette, Indiana and Mr. Robinson started what would be a 30 year career working for Nation Homes Corporation.
When Mr. Robinson entered sales in 1960, the family was transferred several times. Because the home office was in Lafayette, they lived there three different times. They also lived in Iowa, Missouri (St. Louis), Michigan, Mississippi and finally in Illinois, originally in Effingham before moving to Champaign.
In addition to her role as wife and mother, Mrs. Robinson always had a full time job. Her favorite was working at Purdue University as a secretary and bookkeeper for Dr. Haniford. While living in Effingham, she was voted Realtor of the year and Professional Woman of the year. After moving to Champaign, Mrs. Robinson was a hospice volunteer for Provena Covenant, and Eucharistic Minister for St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She did volunteer work for the Champaign Symphony and various tasks for RSVP.
She is survived by her husband and two sons as well as four grandchildren; Michael, Sarah, Becky and Parker.
Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
