Robert H. "Bob" Wingler 75 of Urbana died at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, March 28, 2010 at home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana, the Rev. Tim Barber officiating. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, St. Joseph. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday by Urbana Lodge #157 A.F. & A.M.
He was born on March 5, 1935 in Urbana, the son of Walter and Lucille Randall Wingler. He married Rita Yount on May 23, 1954 in Urbana, she survives.
Also surviving are two sons; Tracy (Paula) Wingler and Randy Wingler both of Urbana, one daughter; Jeanie Lynn Daly of Urbana, one brother; Roger (June) Wingler of Orlando, Florida, three sisters; Betty (Leo) Burton of Rantoul, Marlene Lessenberry of Ogden and Sandy Birt of Taft, Tennessee, seven grandchildren; Joseph (Tater) Daly, Robert DeRouchie, Kristin Wingler, Chad Daly, Zach Buhs, Shelby Wingler and Rees Wingler, and four great grandchildren; Kayla DeRouchie, Halen Daly, Taylor Daly and Chason Daly.
Mr. Wingler was an assist. superintendent and police officer for the Urbana Park Dist, maintenance engineer for the Ramada Inn, field rep for Laborers Local #703, along with his wife the founder of the Apple Dumplin Restaurant from 1985 - 2009.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, Champaign, Urbana Lodge #157 A.F. & A.M., Danville Consistory, and the Shriners. He also enjoyed the Indiana Guides, wood working, bowling, fishing, golf, softball, the neighbor's pets and taking a drive and watching the deer, entertaining at the Rose Bowl and with the Marvin Lee show. He was known as the park police clown.
Mr. Wingler was also an Illini and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
