Robert G. Thomson, 65 of Urbana died at 3:08 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2007 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church of Urbana, the Rev. Don Mason will officiate. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Thomson was born on November 11, 1941 in Berea, Ohio, the son of Kenneth B. and Christina G. Cook Thomson. He married Nancy Ellen Smith and she died on April 19, 1980.

Survivors include a son; Michael Thomson of Champaign, two daughters; Anna Thomson of Champaign and Laura Thomson of Tolono, three brothers; Richard Thomson of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania, William Thomson of Wheatherford, Texas and John Thomson of Tolono.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Thomson was a graduate of the University Of Illinois College Of Engineering and retired from ON Semiconductors of Tempe, Arizona as a Senior Design Engineer.

He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church. Most recently, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Urbana. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America throughout his life. He enjoyed bird watching, robotics and 1960 Austin Healey's.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation, Boy Scouts of America or the Presbyterian Church.
