Robert L. Steele, 82, of Urbana, passed away at 2:15 P.M., Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at the Danville V.A. Hospital in Danville, Illinois. He was a man of integrity and loyalty. He was born in Peoria, IL, on July 25, 1925, and was preceded in death by his parents, Fred L. and Thelma M., and a brother, Larry T. Steele. Robert was a retired independent insurance agent. He was a graduate of the University of Chicago and also attended Indiana University Law School. Bob graduated from Monitor High School, near Lafayette, Indiana in 1943 where he was an outstanding basketball player. In WWII, her served with the U.S. Marines in the Pacific. He is survived by Betty, his loving wife of 30 years, a step-son, Leonard T. (Sue) Smith of Ogden; grandsons, Michael (Cookie) McLeod of Sidney, and Timothy Smith of Ogden. 5 great grandchildren, a brother, Dan of Windermere, Fla., 5 nephews and 3 nieces also survive.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 7, 2008 at Locust Grove Cemetery, Philo, IL. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to donor's choice.
