Robert "Bob" Rice, 81, of Philo passed away 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 7, 2011 at Meadowbrook Health Center, Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Philo Presbyterian Church. Pastor Cindy Shepard will officiate. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery, Philo. Visitation will be 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory 1900 S. Philo Rd. Urbana.

Bob was born June 7, 1929 he oldest son of Nathan and Alda Cunningham Rice. He is survived by two brothers, Richard (Margery) and Donald (Betty) Rice; two nephews, Dirk (Lynn) Rice and Darrel (Regina) Rice; four nieces, Kathleen Rice, Karen (Tom) Stewart, Melanie (Tom) King, and Carolyn Rice; and numerous grand nephews and nieces.

Bob graduated from Philo High School in 1947. He served 18 months in Korea during the conflict and 30 years in the Army Reserve. He began employment at Philo Exchange Bank with his father in 1953 and served as its President from 1982 until his retirement in 2001. He served the Village of Philo as Treasurer and Chairman of the Planning Commission for over 30 years. He also served as a director of Locust Grove Cemetery for 30 years.
