Obituary

Robert A. Ogle, 88 of Marshall, IL, died Sept. 6, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will held at 11:00 a.m. Wed., Sept. 9 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL, Pastor Norris Kevin officiating. Visitation will be one prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery, Urbana with military rites accorded by Champaign VFW Post 5520.

Mr. Ogle was retired after 33 years with Illinois Bell Telephone Co., Champaign. He was born July 29, 1921 in Catlin, IL to Sherol and Blanch Williams. In 1924, he was adopted by his parents, Guy and Esther Ogle of Paris, IL. He graduated from Paris High School in 1939.

Survivors include; his wife of 68 years, Mary Ellen Lee Ogle, married on April 18, 1941; son, Robert Ogle (Linda) of Champaign, IL; granddaughters, Nancy Gould (James) of Champaign and Carolyn Ogle of Tampa, FL; great-grandchildren, Kayla, Courtney and Caden Gould; and sister, Dorothy Phipps (Carl) of Winterhaven, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kathleen Ogle; brother, Arlo Williams and a sister Jane Price.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Marshall, IL; life member of the NRA; State Rifle Association; VFW Post 5975, Marshall; American Legion Post 24, Champaign; Illinois Telephone Pioneers of America; I.B.E.W. and served in the US Army during WWII in the European Theatre. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed sharing his catch with friends.
