Robert "Pop" L. O'Bryan, 84, of Urbana, died February 17, 2009 at Illini Heritage Nursing Home in Champaign.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory 1900 S. Philo Rd. Urbana. Rev. Helen Harvey will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview. Military rites by the VFW Post 5520. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Robert O'Bryan was born March 11, 1923 in Pesotum, IL a son of Hiriam and Alma Kemper O'Bryan. He married Dorothy H. Mast on February 19, 1949 in Urbana. She preceded him in death on March 31, 1994.

He is survived by his long time companion Ethel Ray, three sisters Colleen Gregg, Erma Woodworth, and Juanita Schonert; four grandchildren Keri (Bill) Alagna-Adams, David (Danielle) Alagna, Robert O'Bryan III, Bobby Ann Hardick; Great grandchildren Kody Alagna, Kaleigh Adams, Savannah Alagna, and Avery Alagna.

He was preceded in death by three children Connie Alagna, Robert O'Bryan Jr., and Ronnie O'Bryan; a sister Mary Ellen Reeder, and a brother Gene O'Bryan.

Pop O'Bryan worked in the dairy science department at the UofI. After retiring from the UofI he went to work for Tom's Gun Shop in St. Joseph. He was a member of the Mayview Methodist Church, Mayview Men's Club, the St. Joseph Sportmans Club, VFW, and American Legion. He proudly served in the Army.
