Robert Justin Edwards 86 of Urbana died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Edwards was born on October 6, 1926 in Champaign, the son of Myron J. and Ethel May Derry Edwards.

Survivors include one sister Mary (Edward) Torsch of Dover, Delaware, two nieces; Virginia Torsch and Elizabeth Cox, one nephew; Robert Torsch and three grandnieces and one grandnephew.

He was preceded in death by one brother; Jack M. Edwards.

Mr. Edwards graduated from Urbana High School and graduated from Greenville College in 1950.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II having the rank of Photographer's Mate Third Class.

Mr. Edwards retired from the University of Illinois as a clerk in the Chemistry Department.

He was a member of the Mattis Ave. Free Methodist Church, Champaign.

Bob was an avid reader and hiker. Though frugal in his lifestyle, he generously supported the ministries of his church and empty tomb.
