Richard D. Stalter 74 of Champaign died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Private funeral services will be held at the Mattis Ave. Free Methodist Church, Champaign; Rev. Herb Coates will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana.

Mr. Stalter was born on November 7, 1937 Gridley, IL the son of Aaron and Ruth Heiser Stalter. He married Dixie McLaughlin on October 5, 1975 in Urbana, she survives.

Also surviving are two sons; Nathan Stalter and Caleb (Amber) Stalter, three brothers; Ronald Stalter of Paxton, Robert (Marlene) Stalter and David (Lois) Stalter both of Fisher and one sister; Minerva (Kelly) Birkey of Paxton.

He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Mr. Stalter retired as a maintenance mechanic for Kraft Foods and Southland Foods.

He was a member of Mattis Ave. Free Methodist Church, Champaign.

Mr. Stalter loved woodworking, gardening and gospel singing.
