Obituary

Richard Eugene Roark 88 of St. Joseph died at 4:02 p.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 10, 2011 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana; the Rev. John Sims will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Mr. Roark was born on January 11, 1922 in Le Roy, the son of Rex Charles and Velma Henrietta Reynolds Roark. He married Helen Maurine Williams on December 24, 1941 in Bowling Green, Missouri, she survives.

Also surviving are one son; Joseph Duane (Geni) Roark of St. Joseph, one daughter Sue Ellen Anderson of Lewistown, Missouri, two sisters; Dorothy Ilene Marcum of Le Roy, Marjorie Joan Yount of Bloomington and six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Mr. Roark worked for the NYC Railroad and owned Roark's Cabinet Shop. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II retiring in 1982.

He was a member of St. Joseph Masonic Lodge #970 A.F. & A.M., York Rite Chapter #50, Royal Arch Masons #19, Urbana Commandery #16, American Legion Post #634, Fleet Reserve Association, Washington, DC and AARP. Mr. Roark enjoyed fishing.
