Richard G. McCoy, 59, of Mahomet, IL, and formerly of Dubuque, Iowa and Rantoul, IL, passed away at 8:40 P.M., Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

There will be no public services. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, Illinois is assisting the family with arrangements.

Richard was born on January 12, 1954 in Dubuque, Iowa, a son of Donald F. and Teresa A. (Gerkin) McCoy. He married Wanda Lyons on August 14, 1981 in Champaign, IL. She survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Angie Reliford of Mackinaw, IL, and two sons, David Howell of Champaign, IL and Michael Hunter of Mahomet, IL; 11 grandchildren, two sisters, Dorothy (Ron) Kerin of Roseville, CA, Sue (Kim) Reiter of Dubuque, IA, and a brother, Michael McCoy of Chesapeake Bay, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Richard graduated from Walhert Catholic High School in Dubuque, Iowa and attended Loras College. He worked as a supervisor for Cradco Windows and Doors in Rantoul, IL, and most recently worked as a logistics specialist for Advanced Filtration Systems in Champaign, IL. He retired in December 2011.

Richard enjoyed sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
