NEOGA, IL- Richard Lee "Rick" Gillespie, 60, of Neoga, formerly of Champaign-Urbana, died at 10:27 P.M., Thursday, October 16, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. A Celebration of Life service will be held from 2-4 P.M., Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the I.B.E.W. Local 601 Union Hall, 3301 Boardwalk Dr., Champaign, IL. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rick was born August 2, 1954 in Champaign, a son of Jack and Norma J. (Carter) Gillespie. Survivors include two sons; Chad Gillespie of Neoga, IL and Traves Gillespie of Champaign, IL; a daughter, Megan Gillespie of St. Joseph, IL; a granddaughter, Kayden Draughon; his father, Jack Gillespie of Urbana, IL, a brother, Steve Gillespie of Urbana, and a sister, Sherry Gillespie of Urbana.

Rick graduated from Urbana High School and was initiated into I.B.E.W. Local 601 on May 1, 1974. He owned and operated Rick's Electric Service from 1992 until 2011. He retired as a union electrician in 2012. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors.
