URBANA, IL- Richard F. Freeman, 77, of Urbana, passed away at 1:03 A.M., Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

Funeral Services will be held 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. Pastor Gary Ingold will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4-7P.M., Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Freeman was born January 21, 1933 at Urbana, a son of Carl and Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Yantis Freeman. He married Sharon Lieb on April 22, 1967 in Champaign, and she preceded him in death on January 22, 1994. Survivors include four daughters, Leah Pettit of Rantoul, IL, Dawn (Todd) Ramsburg of Alexandria, VA, Denise Freeman-Jake of Rantoul, and Mary (Greg) Vogt of Monticello, IL. Five grandchildren, Kale (Brooke) Zimmerman, Kristina Freeman, Aaron Freeman, Macy Vogt and Kathryn Vogt. Two sisters, Andrea Barham of Tucson, AZ, Bette Ann Widdows of Tempe, AZ and a brother, Carl (Mary) Freeman of Vista, CA. Also surviving is his special friend, Connie Tolley of Champaign, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Sharon.

Mr. Freeman graduated from Urbana High School in 1952. He served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Sergeant from 1953 until 1956. He retired as a mechanic from GT's Western Bowl, where he worked for 30 years. He also worked as a night stocker for IGA and for the Assembly Hall for 40 years. He attended the Curtis Road Church of God in Champaign and First Assembly of God in Rantoul and he was on his high school class reunion committee. Mr. Freeman enjoyed model airplanes, fishing, bowling, watching his grandchildren's activities and spending time with family and friends. He touched the lives of many people.
