Raymond Stroub, 83 of Urbana died at 5:10 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Carle Arbours nursing home, Savoy.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sat. March 10, 2007 at The Edge of the Mall Apartments, Urbana. There will be no public visitation, Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Stroub was born on Aug. 17, 1923 in Cynthiana, Kentucky, the son of Frank and Maggie Slade Stroub. He married Sylvia Prouse on Oct. 5, 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky; she died on Sept. 3, 1996.
Survivors include two sisters; Ida McCormick and Margie Stroub both of Scottsburg, Indiana, two brothers; M.C. Stroub of Lexington, Kentucky and Roy Stroub of Cynthiana, Kentucky, nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one step-son; Joseph Lane, two step-daughters; Peggy and Patsy Lane, two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Stroub served as an Army Air Force Medic in WW II at Chanute Air Force Base. He was a member of Local 703 Laborers Union and the Cement Finishers Union.
He loved pets, old time country music, gardening and was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. He was a kind soul and was loved by many.
Memorial contributions may be made to Carle Hospice. A special thank you to all the members of both the Carle Hospice and the Carle Arbours.
