Raymond W. Ribbe Sr., of Urbana, died at 1:04 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at home.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, September 25, 2009 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory 1900 S. Philo Rd. Urbana. Rev. Seth Jersild will officiate. Military rites by VFW 5520. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Raymond W. Ribbe Sr. was born January 27, 1926 in Danville, IL a son of Walter and Anna Hank Ribbe. He married Erlien Taylor April 25, 1943. She preceded him in death in 1960. He married Charlotte Chaney April 19, 1962. She preceded him in death on August 10, 1973.

He is survived by eight children, Yvonne (Robert) Jayne of Urbana, Ruthann (Morris) Miller of AZ, Ida Carpentier of Peoria, Brenda (Kenny) Marion of Danville, Raymond (Kathy) w. Ribbe Jr. of Urbana, Rick (Vicky) Borton of VA, Doc (Deloris) Ribbe of St Joseph, and Raymond (Mary) G. Ribbe of Peoria Heights; four brothers, Dave (Karen) Ribbe of Mahomet, Leroy (Toni) Ribbe of CA, Francis (Eve) Ribbe of KY, and Chuck Ribbe of CO; two sisters Lena (Benny Miller) Smith of Anchor, and Linda Brown of Urbana; thirty-seven grandchildren, sixty great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

Two daughters, a sister, a granddaughter, a grandson, and a great granddaughter preceded him in death.

Ray Ribbe Sr. worked for Cliford-Jacobs for thirty-seven years. He owned and operated Ray Ribbe Seamless Gutter. He served in the Navy during WWII and was a member of the VFW Post 630, and the American Legion.
