Obituary

Rachel Hensley, 72, of Champaign-Urbana, was declared deceased on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

Rachel was born in Paducah, Kentucky on May 14, 1953. Rachel was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Hensley, mother Mary Hensley, and brother, David Hensley.

Surviving Rachel are two sisters, Sharon Lee and Marilyn Myles; one brother, Ralph Hensley Jr; two nieces, Tanya Depeiza (Ryan); Maria Hensley; two nephews, Benjamin Lee ( Nikki), and Raymond Myles; and a great nephew, Joshua Lee; four aunts, Janie Smith, Peggy Brown, Louella Brown, and Laura Hursey.

Rachel worked as a secretary, bakery manager and trainer of other managers at Jewel for 25 years, using her retirement benefits to obtain her Associate degree in Computer Sciences at Heartland Community College. She used her computer skills at Growmark in Bloomington, IL until she retired at age 68.

Rachel attended church all her life and was baptized into the Church of Christ in Rantoul, IL where she was a dedicated, beloved member. Rachel's passion was Bible study and conducting Bible study classes.

Rachel enjoyed growing beautiful plants, cooking and entertaining, caring for her parents, knitting and crocheting, visiting with the elderly, reading, and listening to gospel music.

Rachel was loved by many, including family, friends, and church members.

Funeral Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 20 with visitation from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Rev. Benjamin Lee will officiate at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana.
