Phyllis  "Kay" Matthews, 77, of Urbana gave up her battle with cancer to be with her, Lord, Jesus Christ, on August 1, 2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Kay was born on September 11, 1944 at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield, Illinois the daughter of Donal & Bernice Daniel. She married Martin Matthews at the Webber Street Christian Church, Urbana on July 22, 1983, he survives.

Kay graduated from East Pike in 1962 and Lincoln Christian College in 1966. She worked as a church secretary for 51 years. She is survived by her husband- Marty of 39 years; daughters- Jackie(Don)Terrell of Blandinsville and Jeri(Bodie)Cargo of rural Rantoul; 6 grandchildren- Jenny Brush, Katie Wisslead, Maggie Link, Justin Cargo, Kalie Cargo, Carlie Cargo; 9 great grandchildren; sister- Jean (Ellis)Sanderson of Pittsfield; brothers- Jerry Daniel and Terry(Nancy)Daniel of Pittsfield; two nieces- Jeana(Russ)Sealock, Kim(Troy)Bauer  all of Pittsfield; two nephews-Doug(Rhonda)Daniel and Brian(Becky)Daniel all of Pittsfield. She is preceded by her parents, two sisters- Eleanor Daniel & Glenna Louise Daniel(infant)and her beloved pets- Toby, Herbie and Taz. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel. Pastor Joe Sanders will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 11-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
