- Phillip Douglas Shepherd, 58, of Urbana, IL, passed away at 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at his residence. A visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 1, 2013 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL.

Phillip was born April 27, 1955 in Urbana, IL, a son of Russell D. and Ruby (Brown) Shepherd. He married Kathy Sadzak on June 11, 1983 in Urbana. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Jesse(Anne) Shepherd of Tucson, AZ and Chris(Chrissy) Shepherd of Urbana; 3 grandchildren, Krista, Damyan and Gavin Shepherd, and a great-grandchild, Hayden Brant. Three siblings also survive, Lynda(Larry) Boling of Clarksville, TN, Steven(Judy Kaydus)Shepherd of Taylorville, IL and Larry(Diane) Shepherd of Missouri.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy, and his parents.

Phill worked as a prosthetic technician for several years with American Limb and Orthopedic of Urbana before becoming a small business entrepreneur. Phill owned and operated several small businesses before retiring in 2004.

Phill was also an avid pool player, playing on many pool leagues and in many tounaments through the years. He began the East Central Illinois Pool League and was also an instructor and referee. He also refurbished and repaired pool cues and pool tables. Phill loved to ride motorcycles and took several trips on the open road, most recently to the Tail of the Dragon. Phills other passions were scuba diving and most important of all, spending time with his family.
