Melbourne David "Pete" Eveland 72 of Urbana died at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana; Rev. Al Simonson and Rev. Rex Richardson will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign with military rites by the American Legion Post 71 Urbana. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Eveland was born on August 16, 1943 in Champaign, the son of Herbert C. and Lucille Richardson Eveland. He married Carolyn Roy on June 8, 1985 in Mahomet; she died February 16, 2014.

Survivors include two step sons; Greg Johnston and Jeff Johnston of Phoenix, Arizona, three brothers; Keith (Diane) Eveland of St. Joseph, Edward (Dottie) Eveland of Oakwood, Herb (Diane) Eveland of Plymouth, Indiana and one sister; LuAn Cunnington of Tolono. Mr. Eveland was a U.S. Navy veteran.

He owned Eveland Dental and was a building service worker for the University of Illinois.

Mr. Eveland was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Champaign and attended Tolono United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed gardening, building bird houses and his fish pond.
