IN LOVING MEMORY... Ms. Peggy Joyce Lowenstein, 79, of Savoy, Illinois, passed away at her home at 2:50 a.m. Monday morning, November 21, 2011. A private service was held for Ms. Lowenstein, (Peggy) at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, Illinois. The service was presided over by Pastor J. Michael "Mike" Smith, of Grace United Methodist Church, 2004 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, Illinois. Peggy was born April 8, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois. She was one of six children of Edward E. and Clemma (Landrus) Hill. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her first born Grandson, Michael Bruce Thoma of Gibson City, Illinois, her first husband Edward J. Miller of Crest Hill, Illinois, her sister, Rose (Pfeifer) Cockrill of Scottsdale, Arizona and three of her brothers; Donald, Norman, and Dennis Hill, all of Illinois. She is survived by her son, Bruce E. Miller, Savoy, Illinois, a daughter, Sharon (Miller) Thoma, Morton, Illinois, her Grandson, Matthew J. Miller, Savoy, Illinois, her brother, Thomas Hill, Jacksonville, Florida, her aunt, Helen Toth, of Mattoon, Illinois, two great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. Although Peggy had numerous positions of employment throughout her life, she was very much a homemaker, with family and friends always a priority. She loved her family dearly, as well as her friends. Peggy loved cooking and baking, gardening, house plants and pets, raising seven miniature poodles in earlier years. She was a past member of First Methodist Church, Normal, Illinois, as well as Savoy United Methodist Church, Savoy, Illinois, the Elks and Moose, Red Hat Society and Provena Covenant Ladies Auxiliary. Peggy had a true love and reverence for life, family and friends. Please keep her in your best thoughts, prayers and memories. Peggy will be dearly missed.
