Obituary

Peggy Elizabeth Griffet, 91, of Champaign, passed from this life to eternal life with her Lord and Savior, at 5:30 a.m., Friday, February 5, 2010, at Champaign Urbana Regional Rehab Center in Savoy, with her daughters Carol Ann and Debra Griffet at her side, on her husbands 94th birthday.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel 1900 S. Philo Rd. Urbana. Rev. Steve Diehl will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens. There will be a visitation from 12:00 noon, until the time of service on Tuesday.

Mom was born October 11, 1918 in Champaign, the daughter of Frank and Ann Eliza Bemis Eaglin. She and her brother Harry were raised by her maternal grandparents, George and Minerva Bemis. Mom's mother died six days after she was born of the flu epidemic of 1918, pneumonia, and childbirth.

She married Otis Isaac Griffet on May 30, 1936 in Toledo, Ohio. He preceded her in death on October 5, 1989. Also preceding her was her brother, Harry, and a grandson, Mark Griffet.

They had six children, Otis Donald (Rose) Griffet of St. Joseph, Carol Ann (Bill) Everhart, Michael (Debbie) Griffet, Debra Griffet, and Brenda Schultz, all of Champaign, and Susan Oltmanns of Florida. There are also sixteen grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.

Mom was a home maker. She enjoyed her family, reading the Bible, and writing poems. She was a member of Garden Hills Church, Champaign.
