Obituary

Orville Kenneth McDaniel passed to the Lord's kingdom peacefully in his sleep at his home in Naples, FL on March 27, 2012 at the age of 86. He was born on November 13, 1925 in Champaign, IL to Orville James McDaniel and Mabel (McFall) McDaniel. Ken spent his youth in Weldon, IL and joined the Navy during WWII in 1943, stationed in San Diego, CA. He married Wanda O'Daffer in 1945 and they spent 2 years living on base before he was honorably discharged and they returned to IL to the family farm. Ken is survived by his wife Wanda and their three daughters; Nancy (Pat) Casey, Gayle (Steve) Nicol, Melinda (Kevin) Cain; and one grandchild, Scott Casey. He is also survived by his >sister, Marjorie Letot, and her daughter Cindy Letot.

Ken was graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. degree in Business in 1950. He worked for Amoco Oil as a Lubrication Engineer for 38 years, retiring in 1990. Throughout his life, sports were very important, but he enjoyed tennis the most and played often at the Willow Knolls Country Club in Peoria, IL where he and Wanda lived for 27 years. Ken and Wanda moved to Champaign, IL in 1999 and also purchased a retirement home in Naples, FL, dividing their time between the two homes. During those years, Ken continued to play tennis and they both enjoyed playing golf.

Funeral services will be held at the Faith United Methodist Church, S. Prospect Ave., Champaign, IL on April 21, 2012 at 10.30 am; with interment of ashes ceremony, with military honors, immediately following at Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church.
