Opal M. Christie 87 of Champaign died at 2:12 pm. Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana, Rev. Steve Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Opal Marie Christie was born on October 18, 1927 in Champaign, a daughter of Jay B. and T. Estelle (Moore) Boyd. She married Paul Marshall Christie on February 22, 1953 at the First United Methodist Church, Urbana. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by a son; Brian (Ellen) Christie of Champaign, a daughter; Karen Christie of Champaign, two grandchildren; Sara McConnell and Ben Christie and two great grandchildren; Ryan and jack McConnell.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Mrs. Christie graduated from Urbana High School and St. John's School of Nursing.

She loved her grandchildren, gardening and sewing.
