Olen M. Mackey, 98, of Tucker, Georgia, formerly of Urbana passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Eastside Medical Center, Georgia.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 11:00-1:00 P.M. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory, Urbana. A service will follow the visitation and burial will follow the service at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.

Olen was born in Mansfield, Illinois on August 27, 1916 to parents John and Bessie (Groomes) Mackey. They preceded him in death. On May 6, 1939 he married Sara Jane Kaufman in St. Charles, Missouri. Sara passed away on November 7, 1997. A granddaughter, three brothers and five sisters also preceded him in death.

Olen is survived by his daughter, Janice Rogers (Don) of Tucker, Georgia, sister; Darlene M. Floyd of Decatur, Illinois, one granddaughter, Susan Roberts (Tony), four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

After graduating Mansfield High School, Olen worked for the University of Illinois in the Life Sciences Department as an Animal Caretaker, retiring in 1980 after 30 years. He also worked part time at Sholems Shoes and Jerry's IGA until he was 90 years old. He was a member of White Oak Baptist Church in Lilburn, Georgia.
