Nelda L. Conrad, 87 of Urbana, died at 5:45 a.m. December 3, 2010 at Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 6 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 509 S. Mattis Ave., Champaign Rev. Mark Elliott officiating. Burial will be at Locust Grove Cemetery, Philo. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana.

Mrs. Conrad was born July 22, 1923 in Havana, the daughter of William and Emma Zeizenutz Tigar. She married Roger L. Conrad on February 10, 1946 in Havana and he survives. She is also survived by a son, Steven C. Conrad of Urbana and a daughter, Jan Gerstner (Jim) of Peoria, grandchildren, Stephanie Polk (Damon), Doug Gerstner, Gregory Gerstner (Tara), Katherine Bialecki (James) and eight great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a brother.

Mrs. Conrad graduated from Methodist School of Nursing in Peoria. She was a registered nurse and worked at Lincoln College. She later worked at Carle Foundation Hospital and became supervisor. She also taught medical education at the hospital and was a nurse at the Assembly Hall on the U of I campus. After retirement she joined the Carle Auxiliary and became a hospital volunteer. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Champaign and was a very active member. She was also an avid Illini fan.
