Nancy Louise Steerman 77 of Urbana died at 12:05 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Urbana. Rev. Fr. Joseph Hogan will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Monday at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana.

Mrs. Steerman was born on February 4, 1935 in Escanaba, Michigan, the daughter of Clarence and Esther Morian Gauthier. She married Jerome Steerman on January 8, 1982 in Urbana, he survives.

Also surviving are five children; Constance Jane DeFelice of Monument, Colorado, John Peter Smith of Urbana, Elizabeth Ann Templet of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Daniel Sherman Smith of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Karen Marie Smith of Urbana, eight step-children; Christine Marie Steerman of Rochester, New York, Jessica Ann Steerman of Champaign, Anne Elizabeth Steerman of Philo, John Frederick Steerman of Florida, Jane Frances Bergman of Champaign, James Thomas Steerman of Champaign, Joseph Patrick Steerman of Champaign and Edward Charles Steerman of North Carolina, three grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, one great grandson and three step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother.

Mrs. Steerman retired as a secretary from St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Urbana.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Altar & Rosary Society, Central Illinois Orchid Society where she served as secretary and the Carle Pulmonary Rehab Group.

Mrs. Steerman enjoyed miniatures, rubber stamps, jigsaw puzzles and reading her bible.
