Nancy A. Desmond, 82, of Urbana died Friday June 10, 2016. Nancy was born Aug. 8, 1933 in Hinsdale, Ill the daughter of Wylie and Marie McMillan.

In Urbana, Nancy is survived by her daughter, Karen (Desmond) York; her granddaughters, Stacie and Ashley; great-granddaughter, Kylie; and her good friend Pat Johnson. She is also survived by her son and his wife, Thomas and Angela Desmond of Park Forest, Ill and children.

She was preceded in death by John Desmond; her son, Richard Desmond; and her sister, Sara (Sally) Fender.

Nancy graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's degree and Master's Degree in accountancy and earned her CPA in 1959.

Nancy retired as a professor of accounting at University of Illinois in 1999 and continued teaching accounting after retirement with the Technology and Management Program. Due to her love of accounting and working with people she also worked part time for the H & R Block Executive Tax Office.

In retirement, Nancy was an avid follower of politics and thoroughly enjoyed her cottage in Michigan.

Nancy was kind and loving, and generous to family and friends. Our lives are meaningful and rich because she was in them. She is deeply loved and profoundly missed.

A celebration of her life will be held by the immediate family.
